Akeeba Backup

Akeeba Backup is a revolutionary component which makes taking a full site backup (files and database) a child's play. It has been in active development since 2006, under its former name JoomlaPack. Its mission is simple: take a copy of your site's files and database, add an installer – similar to Joomla!'s own web installer – and put everything in an archive file. The backup archive can be restored not only on the same server, but any other server, even on a different host running on a different operating system.

Header Image Rotator

The Header Image Rotator is a very simple module for Joomla! which allows you to randomly display a cross-fading slideshow of images, without the need for Flash or manual coding. Just give it the name of a directory with images and it will take care of the cross-fading effects automatically, using standard mooTools Javascript. It's free and Open Source.

K2 JCE AdvLink plugin

You have probably caught wind of the hot fuss for Joomla!, the K2 component. If not, it is the best CCK for the Joomla! CMS. In fact, it powers this very site. You may have also used Joomla! Content Editor (JCE), the most feature-complete visual content editor for Joomla!. What was missing from the dream team combination was a way to easily cross-link between K2 items. Search no more, because the K2 JCE AdvLink plugin allows you to link to K2 items directly from JCE, displaying all categories and their items in the content items tree of JCE's link editor! Yes, it's free and Open Source as well.

Link-a-tron

Joomla! has its shortcomings when it comes to link handling. Granted, it's a generic CMS, but sometimes you need vital stuff such as canonical URL generation or automatically migrating your links when you move your site to a new domain or location on the same server. Link-a-tron is a set of two plug-ins which can cater for these and even more situations.

The Bleeding Edge

The Bleeding Edge is a zero-configuration repository component for Joomla!. Unlike other repository components, it doesn't require a database table, it doesn't keep statistics for your files and it doesn't have flexibility or fancy graphics. In fact, it is a barebone component designed with exactly one thing in mind: easy software distribution. Each Bleeding Edge installation has one directory per distributed software, each one having exactly one subdirectory per release. The files included in the subdirectories are presented as-is. The only convenience it provides is parsing a plain text CHANGELOG file and presenting only the changes made since the previous release.

As you might have figured out, it was built with the sole intent of powering AkeebaBackup.com's "Developer Releases" area. However, you might want to use it as a quick repository system for distributing software – so, here it is!

Visitor 2 Buyer

Visitor 2 Buyer (or V2B for short) is a Joomla! module which allows you to enhance the interaction with new and returning visitors to your site. It can display a custom message in a variety of formats (as a module, modal "lightbox" popup or a bottom "crawl" overlay) and with an astonishing number of options. You get to have absolute control not only to which user groups can see your message, but also define the message's visibility based on the number of visits or pageviews over a pre-defined period.

Visitor 2 Buyer is a commercial Open Source extension, i.e. you have to pay in order to download it, marketed through our partner iJoobi. Since it is Open Source you can buy it once and install on an unlimited number of domains. Plus you get the full source code; no encryption is ever used on the extensions I make!
